Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 Overlocker Review

It might seem that overlockers are all made to be the same- the same functions, same workspace, same accessories.

But they certainly are not! All overlockers are just a bit different and finding the right one for you and your sewing projects can be a daunting task. We’re here to help!

Today we’re going to take a closer look at the Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 Overlocker. This overlocker is fairly affordable and doesn’t take a lot of time to learn how to use. That means it’s great for beginners who want to try their hand at the next level of dressmaking and want to create sturdy, durable projects that will stand up to being worn or used over and over again.

With the Hobbylock 2.0 machine you’ll be able to sew with 2, 3, or 4 threads at a time, depending on the stitch variation you’re working with. You’ll have 15 stitch variations to choose from including a rolled hem! Rolled hems are perfect for delicate fabrics and decorative edges. But you’ll also have plenty of overlocking stitches, too, to really make your projects durable and wearable.

And you’ll be able to customise the stitch width to be between 3 and 6.7mm and the stitch length to be between 1 and 4mm! That’s a lot of options to work with to be able to customise your garments. Every project is different, so you want to make sure that you’re able to make custom changes to your stitches with your brand new overlocker.

The free arm might be our favourite feature on this overlocker! Many overlockers don’t have this feature, even though you’ll want to be able to use these machines to lock in edges of your cuffs on your trousers and shirts as you would every other seam on the garment. A free arm allows you to do just that!

You’ll love how easy this machine is to thread! Overlockers are notorious for being intimidating to thread, but the Hobbylock 2.0 has easy threading with colour coded lay-in tension dials! You’ll just follow the colour-coded points on the machine with the corresponding threads, and voila! You’ve threaded your machine!

And to be able to keep your working space clean of trimmings and threads, you’ll love that the Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 comes with a trap bin included! The trap bin sits on the front of the machine, right below the needle and knife so that it catches anything the knife has trimmed away. If you’re not using the knife, though, you can remove the trap bin to keep it out of the way if you so choose.

Let’s take a moment to look inside the box that the Pfaff Hobbylock 2.0 Overlocker comes in brand-new to see what accessories come standard with it when you purchase it from The Sewing Studio:
